@eldang me too, but I grew up in the American South; there were still people calling it the “War of Northern Aggression”.

@eldang FWIW, to my USian ears, “The War of the Roses” sounds quite pleasant, even though I know it was a series of horrors.

@eldang just straight up bloody horrible, then, no “polite” sense of “civil” available?
